I'm thinking of switching to Verizon prepaid and have narrowed down the phone choices to the Moto E 4g and the LG Transpyre 4g. Any thoughts on why Moto E should be my choice? Does lollipop perform well on Moto E? I've never used anything above a gingerbread phone, quite small and old, LOL... I don't need a super premium phone with fabulous camera, but when I do need to use the phone (text, calls, weather apps, calendar, amazon, etc), I'd like it to be fairly fast and smooth. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Here's the comparison: Motorola Moto E (2015) vs LG Transpyre - Phone specs comparison

Moto E seems to win. It comes with Lollipop, while the Transpyre starts with 4.4.2. In general, devices seem to do better when they're preinstalled with a particular version of Android, as opposed to being updated to it.

The Moto E's screen is also better--higher res (540x960 vs 480x800), and it's IPS as well, which is better than the regular LCD of the LG.

The Moto E has a weaker video camera (only 720p, as compared to the LG's 1080p video camera), and the front-facing camera is only 0.3 MP, so don't expect to take good selfies.

Hey, sushi! I remember helping you out with your old Optimus V! I have the Moto E, and I can tell you it's nice. It certainly isn't a flagship, but it feels solid in the hand (though just a touch heavy) and the screen looks great. Also, Walmart has the Verizon Moto E on sale for $69, and it's worth every penny.

Hi brotherswing, I remember ALL the awesome help you gave me, greatly appreciated! My poor little OV is finally dying and I'm thinking of switching to Verizon prepaid. It makes more sense for me because Verizon has better coverage in my area than Virgin time to make the big jump, LOL... I'm glad to hear you like the Moto E, that pushes me toward it! Thx again!

The Moto G is still a good option and should receive Lollipop soon. But again its your choice, it could be a back up. Good Luck.

I just got a Verizon prepaid version of the 2013 Moto G from Best Buy when it was on sale for a measly $20. I just use it as a wi-fi device, so I can't speak for its call performance--but for a $20 phone, it's quite good. Interface is smooth, common apps run flawlessly, build feels top quality. It's stuck on 4.4.4, and it's unclear if Lollipop will arrive--but that's not always a bad thing.

I love my verizon Moto E LTE 2015.
A big reason I like it is because I'm using it on tmobile. You can activate the GSM radios on it by running three simple commands in ADB without root.
