I recently picked up a Black Friday'ed unlocked E4 Plus to serve as a backup for my Pixel 2. I wanted a cheap but competent device that I could use to Strava mountain bike rides or take into the backcountry as an emergency device and navigation aid. The E4 Plus with its low price, decent specs and gigantic 5,000 mAh battery was the perfect device for this. I don't have to worry about trashing my expensive P2 in a crash or extended water exposure (I don't want to test the IP67 rating of the P2).

Ok, it's a little sluggish next to my Pixel 2 but it's still very usable and stable. In fact, I'm putting in more screen time on my E4+ than my Pixel 2 when I'm at home on WiFi.

The only bummer about the E4+ is that I have to remove the back cover to swap SIMs between phones. It's a clumsy operation at best for me.

I have both of these phones as well. While the Pixel 2 is obviously a lot snappier, the Moto E4 Plus is pretty fast for a 425. And that battery life is unreal.

I'd like to see some brave manufacturer take a "form follows function" approach to their next flagship and stuff a slightly larger, user-replaceable battery in there.

I'll take a "cheap" feeling flagship with this feature over a slick, svelte unibody design that's doomed to be replaced in 1.5-2 years because its battery will no longer hold an all-day charge.

I'd love to see a phone with modern specs in the body of a LG G2 (with a fingerprint scanner).
