I've had my Edge for a little over 3 weeks. I truly loved this phone. It's a worthy upgrade - so I thought - to my 3-year-old Moto X4 until 2 days ago when a gray blotch appeared on the right side after about 40 minutes of use. Like lava it quickly spread. Turning the phone off made it go away but as soon as I use it for 20 minutes or more it comes back. And it's gotten worse. A LOT worse. The left side is going bad too. The whole screen has a greenish tint and I can also see ghosts of text on any white screen.

I'm so disappointed. I've been a Moto fan since the Atrix, but I'm not gonna lie - the love affair is over. I've requested a replacement, but I really don't trust that Motorola knows what's wrong, judging from the many folks on their forum who have had the same problem with replacements.

It's such a shame since for the price I paid (got it when it was $200 off) I was so pleased with this phone. Now I find myself with a phone that has an unusable display. Fortunately, my trusty X4 still works.

So if anyone is remotely considering the Edge or Edge+ I'd seriously recommend against it for now.

There are 57 pages about this issue in the moto edge+ forums. My original phone, which I ordered within the hour it became available, had the issue. I got a prompt replacement from Verizon and it has been flawless. Others have not been so fortunate, requiring multiple replacements. it's a spectacular device if not for this issue. It seems as though software updates have helped, but not in every case.

I so hope I have your same experience and my replacement phone will be okay. I got mine from Motorola directly, and getting a replacement isn't too bad. All I had to say was "Moto Edge" and "screen problem" and they said I needed a replacement almost immediately. I really like this phone otherwise. I just can't fathom how Moto let the Edge out of the gate when they already had so many reports that the Edge+ screen was having big problems. Fingers crossed I don't have to deal with more than one replacement.

My Edge+ had the issue. The replacement from Motorola has had no issues, but I completely understand how frustrated people are. Motorola should really extend the warranty to two years. It wouldn't matter to me so I have device protection through Verizon.

It's encouraging that some folks are getting replacements that are okay. Fingers crossed I'll be one of the lucky ones.

After 5 days my replacement phone is just fine. Moto sent it to me really fast - I got it in just over a week. I'm going to be prepared to have to exchange it again if the screen goes bad on this one but hoping I don't have to. Other than the screen issue I really like this phone. We'll see!

This is Lenovo we're talking about here... their track record with the Moto brand is pretty well documented. They're terrible with updates in every way, can't be trusted to follow through with what they promise, tend to release new phones with problems, but make some of the best budget phones around if you pick up a tried and true model on sale.

I would never buy one of their new models for full price though (yes I'm looking at you Moto razr lol)

Fortunately I bought the Edge during their $200 off sale and not the Edge+. If I had spent $1000 on this phone I would be much more aggravated than I am now. It's a great phone for the price I paid if (and it's still a big if) the screen doesn't fail again and I have to go through the replacement process a second or even a third time, in which case I'll likely throw in the towel. Fortunately I still have my trusty 3-year-old Moto X4 to fall back on if needed.
