Peek Display motion activation change?
Has anyone else noticed Peek Display changes after the latest update? I like the new shimmer screen animation on wake, but it also now seems like slight motions now wake the screen, not just "approach to wake".
Is this a new behavior, or am I just noticing it more with the new animation? It's problematic since my screen now wakes and shimmers every time my car hits a bump, distracting my eyes from the road, esp at night.
Re: Peek Display motion activation change?
The behavior and overall sensitivity you're describing is exactly what I've experienced with the phone since the beginning, so I'm confident it's just the fact that it's more noticeable now with the increased brightness accompanying the new effect.
I like the aesthetic. I think it looks cool, but functionally speaking, I do think it's more distracting than I would like.
I would prefer it, if it were implemented so that it only happened when receiving a new notification. That would be rather useful in my opinion---but when it occurs no matter how long the notifications' been sitting there, each and every time you approach the screen, or with even just the tiniest of jolts, no matter what, it seems little bit overbearing.

So you've noticed motion waking Peek Display before the update?
The Moto app does provide switches to disable approach and tap to wake, but not motion.
Also, surprised this new peek display animation wasn't noted in the update notes, only the 5G icon was described.
Re: Peek Display motion activation change?
Yes, I've always felt the motion activating the peek display on this phone was a little too sensitive (compared to the every other Moto phone I've ever owned with this feature). It just didn't bother me in any meaningful way because the screen remained so dark before this most recent change.
I do find it strange that I've been unable to find any changelogs listing this new addition as well.

Re: Peek Display motion activation change?
It's a safety issue while driving, IMO. The animation can be disabled, but that's a shame. I've also posted this on Lenovo forums, hopefully someone from Moto there sees it.
Overall, I'm still liking this phone more every day, even after five+ months with it. The camera has been impressing me more than I expected, after my initial concerns with it. And the Moto camera usability combined with raw speed of this camera has me getting so many shots I'd have otherwise missed, and pretty decent ones, at that.
Re: Peek Display motion activation change?
Oh, I didn't notice that the animation could be turned off. I'm not sure if I'll do it or not, but I'm glad they offer the option.
Have you tried turning off the "Tap to wake" option? I always thought that was in effect what was triggering the peek display when it comes to motion.
Overall, I'm super happy with this phone. The camera is very solid, and the battery life, which is usually my most prized feature, I find to be ridiculous. It's also extremely snappy and smooth to operate no matter what I'm doing. It's really everything I could've hoped for...
