Have just recently bought the 2nd gen Moto G and quite happy with it. But there is a small issue. On the original Moto g the network operator was displayed at top on notification bar. But the 2nd gen Moto G with the same Android 4.4.4 does not display this unless you pull down the notification bar. Cannot find anywhere in setting even in admin mode to turn this on. Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Why would you want it taking up your status bar page? Unless you're proud of the premium cost of the plan or something. I guess it could be useful for the dual sim version.

You can enable it by going to:
Settings -> More... -> Mobile networks -> Check "Show mobile network".

What do you mean by the network operator--you mean the carrier name? Lots of people complain bitterly about the presence of the carrier name in the notification bar, so I would imagine they changed it to respond to complaints.

Thanks for trying to help but:
On The Moto g (2nd gen) (UK version) there is no option to show mobile network as there was on the original Moto G.
This must be a phone issue as it worked on the original Moto G with same android version (4.4.4). Unless the version of android is different when pre-installed instead of upgraded to.

You have to go to mobile networks and turn it on or off.
