I've set my camera to save pictures onto my SD card, yet everything seems to be saved on internal storage rather than the SD card. How can I make sure everything I download goes to my SD card and transfer photos from internal storage to my SD card? Also, when I attempt to delete photos from internal storage I get a message that says "unable to delete some documents." I'd like to get rid of files on internal storage, so please help me with the steps to take. I must have figured out how to transfer photos in the past, as some of my photos are stored on my SD card. I don't want to lose those photos. Thank you.

When I use ES File Explorer, it shows most of my photos as duplicates, with one filed under DCIM/camera and the other filed under just camera, but it doesn't state whether the files are on the SD card or internal storage. ES File Explorer allows me to delete unwanted files, but I don't want to delete the wrong one. How can I differentiate where the files are located?

After playing with ES File Explorer, photos appear both on internal storage and SD card. I'm not sure if they are just on the SD card (which may be listed as internal storage). Also, how do I set up downloads to always download to the SD card?

It can be confusing, because the system often refers to Internal Storage as another SD card. For example, the actual directory name for the main user directory on internal storage can be /storage/sdcard0/, while the directory for the external SD card might be /storage/sdcard1/.

Show us a screenshot of the directories that you're looking at, using either ES File Explorer or another file manager like Total Commander. http://forums.androidcentral.com/amb...d-central.html

I installed Total Commander, but I'm not sure how to take and post a screen shot using my Moto G 2nd Gen. I'd appreciate your walking me through this. My PC says USB Device Not Recognized by Windows, when I plug my phone in directly to my PC. I thought I could access it on my computer and get a screen shot, but that isn't working. Thank you for helping.

For almost all Android devices, you can take a screenshot by pressing and holding both Power and Vol Down for about half a second. The buttons have to be pressed at exactly the same time--it can take a few tries to get used to it.

When you plug the phone into the PC, swipe down the notification panel and tap the USB icon. Then make sure MTP is selected. But I'm not aware of a way to take a screenshot using your computer (unless you're using some kind of phone mirroring app).

Trouble saving on SD card for Moto G 2nd Gen-1471813088125.jpg I'm not very good with cell phones, but I think I have a screenshot for you. I don't know how to enable MTP, but tell me where to go and what to take a screenshot of, and I'll provide it for you. Thanks for the help. I'd like to make sure everything is downloaded and installed to my SD card, along with how to transfer what is on my phone to my SD card and how to transfer pictures from my phone to my PC without having to email them.

Let's concentrate first on making sure the photos you take with the camera get saved to the microSD card instead of Internal Storage.

First, open the Camera app, go to its Settings, and make sure the default save location is the external SD card, and not Internal Storage/Phone Storage.

Assuming that you've had that set correctly, then open Total Commander, tap SD-card (2), and look for the /DCIM/Camera directory there. Are there any photos there? If not, try taking a few photos now with the camera, and then go back to that directory. Still nothing?

The default for the camera is the SD card. When I take a picture, it shows up in both internal storage and SD card. I can't delete it from internal storage, but when I delete it from the SD card it disappears from internal storage, also. I'm sensing internal storage may be mirroring the SD card, as image storage is only listed as 104KB, whereas each picture is over 1MB in size. The screenshots were saved in internal storage, not the SD card, though the SD card was able to move the screenshots to the SD card. When I deleted them from the SD card, they were also deleted from internal storage. Here is what is saved in internal storage:
    Apps -- 1.54GB
    Images -- 104KB
Audio -- 228KB, though no items
Other -- 9MB (shared files saved by apps, files downloaded from the Internet, etc.
    Cached data -- 0.94GB

The SD card shows the following items (though doesn't give sizes)
    .android_secure
    Android
    DCIM
    Pictures
    00001.vcf -- 183KB

What is best saved on internal storage and what is best saved on the SD card? How do I make sure that is what is happening, and how do I transfer files already saved on internal storage yet best stored on the SD card to the SD card (ie apps, other and cache)? How do I set it up to save screenshots to the SD card? How can I easily move photos from my SD card to my PC for long-term storage? I'm thinking the best way would be to use a SD card reader and input that to a USB port on my computer. Is that what you'd recommend? Thank you for your help.

How did you determine this? Using a file manager app, did you see the exact same photo file in the /DCIM/Camera directory on Internal Storage as well as the /DCIM/Camera directory on the microSD card? Can you show screenshots of the file manager looking in both directories?

Let's try that again, as it didn't post. My phone shows my pictures whether I choose SD card or internal storage. Here is a screenshot from Total Commander. It shows the pictures only in the USB file, so I assume that is my SD card. Hopefully this works this time.
