    Knowing Virgin Mobile I think it's a safe bet that you have to buy their locked version. Are you currently a VM customer?

    Virgin Mobile in the US uses Sprint CDMA/LTE. The Moto Maker version is GSM/LTE only.

    I am not, I am on cricket but I was going to give my sis, who is on cricket, my unlocked Moto G seeing as I bought a Moto X Pure Edition

    UK readers may be interested to know I bought a carrier-free unlocked Moto G 3rd gen from Carphone Warehouse and it works fine using my Virgin Mobile (UK) microSIM. In fact a Virgin Mobile shop worker suggested I do this.
