Moto G6 Battery is draining while its plugged on for charging?

I have a 2 year old moto g6 and the battery goes down when I try to charge it.

I would try a new USB cable before replacing the battery itself, as that seems to be one of the most common culprits for this symptom. You can also try cleaning the USB port on the phone with a can of compressed air, or something non-metallic to remove gunk from inside.

Welcome to Android Central! Also, are you actively using the phone while charging it, or does this even happen when the phone is idle? Are you plugging into a wall outlet or a computer USB port?

I see this problem all the time with bad cables. They flex enough times, or get dropped, then eventually will show up as slow charging, or charging, but battery percentage keeps dropping. Definitely check that first. Battery percentage can also drop if connected to a charger not powerful enough to charge your phone, but I'm assuming you're using the OEM charger here?
