Cricket (AT&T) just notified me my phone is incompatible with their switch to total 4G next February, yet I've read that this phone is compatible with either 3G or 4G. When I go into network settings and mobile network, my preferred network type is LTE. The only options listed are 2G, 3G and LTE. Do I have to get a new phone, or can I use this on 4G. If I can use it, are there some steps I need to take to make it work?

The problem is that the phone has to be able to use VoLTE (Voice over LTE) on AT&T (not just simply to be able to use 4G LTE). If it's not on their list, then it hasn't been certified or approved for use, for whatever technical reasons they might have.

Are you saying there is no way I'll be able to use my phone on AT&T's 4G network?

I think that's correct. You can always ask AT&T's customer support directly, but if the phone isn't on their compatibility list, then I think you're out of luck. Sorry!

I had to replace my 2016 pixel 1 because AT&T told me it wouldn't be supported after the beginning of next year.....no VoLTE support. If your phones not VoLTE supported it won't work. I know for a fact the pixel 3 is VoLTE supported, and can be picked up new for under $200 I believe (great buy for a $900 flagship). AT&T lists it on their site as supported and good to go.

J Dubbs reminded me that AT&T has an actual list of compatible phones that they're keeping updated: http://www.att.com/idpassets/images/...TT-Network.pdf
