hi, im trying to move over from an Apple iPhone 11 to my new Motorola G9 Play, i’m trying to use the Samsung Smart Switch app but every time I go to use it on my Motorola it automatically thinks that my new Motorola is my old phone and tells me to “plug in a new Galaxy phone”, obviously the Motorola is my new phone but I can’t move my data from my iphone to my new one as it thinks its the old phone, i wouldn’t care if i lost all my photos because i have them on google drive but I really desperately want to transfer over all my messages especially from my parents and boyfriend but it wont allow it, can anyone please please help?

Welcome to Android Central! Smart Switch is exclusively for Samsung phones. You have a Moto phone.

    See if this helps: https://www.android.com/switch/

An app named SMS Backup and Restore. It's free on the Play Store. It backs up all your text messages to your Google Drive. Then install the same app on your new phone and use it to import your text messages. I have used it many times

The problem is that the OP wants to transfer text messages from an iPhone to an Android phone. I don't think SMS Backup & Restore works on iOS.

Unfortunately, although Google Drive will backup SMS messages on Android devices, it doesn't do it on iPhones (which probably has something to do with iMessage).

Ahhhh, I didn't know that app was for Android only. My bad there.

Isn't there a copy from old device when you first setup the phone? You plug a cable between the 2 devices and it copies everything over. You may want to factory reset the phone and try to set it up from scratch again.
