XT 1072 replacement screen, can I use a 1063 replacement screen? Is it the same?

XT 1072 replacement screen

Hi all,

I've smashed the screen on my XT 1072 (Moto G 2nd Gen 4g LTE). I can only find replacement screens for the XT 1063. Does anyone know if they are exactly the same screen or did they also change the design when they added 4g?

I also smashed XT1072 screen, and am looking for the replacement parts.
I asked 2 suppliers in China about the screen for XT1063, 1064,1068,1069.
They said it will not fit for XT1072........
It looks same. Really not fit?
Please, somebody help.

I just replaced my wifes xt1072 broken screen with a xt1068 one without any problems, even the frame is the same.

Thanks for commenting on that. Don't suppose you could let us know if you used a genuine Moto part or one of these unbranded for half the price on Ebay? Was the attaching cable exactly the same length, I heard it could be a problem slightly shorter?

Motorola support really worse than useless on this won't give any info nor will their authorised repairer SBE Ltd, not on really such basic info for such common self repair.

Well for anyone else who might need the info - I got a generic screen (with digitizer) from ebay for 2nd Gen Moto G's, and it's now installed and working in my 4g model (too many damn letter g in these names). The cable was slightly wider but fit ok, was careful when bending it round. Best to order it pre-attached to a new front frame, real pain otherwise.

Still cannot believe Motorola refused to tell me if the dimensions were the same or not.
