It depends on what you want.
Both are good.
The X-Pure has a better processor but the 4 has a fingerprint sensor.

the fingerprint reader is worth upgrading to from any phone that doesn't have a good one, and the g4's is great

Think that the G4 is the better buy. More RAM and octacore processor over hexacore with the MXPE. Fingerprint reader is a plus. The only thing it doesn't have that I would want is NFC.

Think that the G4 Play is the better buy. More RAM and Octacore processor over hexacore with the MXPE. Fingerprint reader is a plus. The only thing it doesn't have that I would want is NFC.

Octacore but inferior processor. Plus the G4 and G4 plus have over heating issues which basically affects the camera, try using it under sun light and you'll know. Plus the fingerprint is only good for unlocking, no Android pay because of no NFC. Plus the camera quality is better on the Moto X. This is from personal experience since I owned both for a brief period.

I'm facing a similar decision today. G4 (not plus) vs. MPXE. About a $60 difference in price. Considerations for me are camera and battery life. . This will be a temporary device while I replace my Note 7. Considering a Oneplus 3 or Moto Z Play for the replacement when they become available for GSM carriers. No more $900 phones for me.

The Pure has NFC. So if you want to do mobile payments you may want to pick that one up instead.

You can either buy a G4 Play / non-Play or the Honor 5X if you don't want to spend much. Both of them do not have NFC so Android Pay is not supported.

NFC is nice but not a necessity... At least for me. Fingerprint scan to unlock is more attractive.
