The good thing I see is that 2 of these 3 "G" phones are carrier agnostic. I will be interested in the pricing. But I might still go Nexus for my next phone. Lenovorola needs to work on the update and support for older models, at least in the security update area.

Looks like the XT1644 Moto G Plus will work on all carriers, same with the XT1625 Moto G and XT1607 Moto G Play. The XT1609 Moto G Play looks like it could be a Verizon prepaid model.

This is a phenomenal spec sheet, especially if the G Plus is priced under $300. The only disappointments for me are the size (identical footprint to the X Pure but with a smaller screen and a mono front speaker) and the apparent lack of NFC and 4K video recording.

Last year's Moto Gs were $180 and $220 in the US. If you convert the Turbo Edition's (Snapdragon 615 with Quick Charge 2.0) price, it comes out to about $260.

With the Moto G Play looking like it's recycling some older parts, I would image $150 to $250 would be the range for the fourth gen models.

The only spec I'm disappointed at is the lack of NFC.

I missed the lack of NFC on first pass. I am starting to use Android Pay more, and I would have to think about that, along with the update support (or lack).

Two things: 1. I'm not seeing any word on the screens....shatterproof ala Turbo 2 or not? And 2. Will the radios have the same Moto quality we expect...? That one I suspect no one can know for now.

Well, found this: Corning Gorilla Glass 3
While the Turbo 2 is still described as Shatterproof...and I seem to recall it not being glass at all, actually.

I use Android Pay at least once a week. None of these Moto Gs could be my daily but I could probably use it as a backup.

Yeah, that's strange. Many articles say that there's a model with 32 GB, but Moto Maker only shows the 16/64 versions for the G4+. 32 GB seems an option just for the G4.

My question is what happens when the 2 years expire. Do they auto downgrade your photos to "high quality"? Or does google force you to pay for whatever tier google drive storage you end up in?

I pre-ordered mine, it is already into the 'assembly' stage'. I am not an avid gamer (at least not on small devices). Also, generally don't do a lot of video, although was just thinking the closing light parade and fireworks at Disneyland might be a good stress test. I did a full hour run (off and on of course) at Disney with my G3 a month ago.
The results were very good even with the 'lesser' camera. My daughter took my videos and stitched them on her PC.
I am planning to give her my G3 with the arrival for the G4+.

Now having 2nd thoughts. I know there has been one software update already from what I've read form Indian and Brazil sources online.
I do have 14 days upon receipt to do a return/refund. A lot can be done with software, but a lot of compromises in performance can be the result also. It is unfortunate that at least for the Plus model they did not opt for a more robust processor. At 3 bills I would have expected that.

Good question. If it's like the previous Drive promotions, then you'll have to pay if you end up with more than your default Drive allotment if you want to be able to add more to your cloud storage.

If your storage exceeds your available quota you will be unable to upload more files/photos and unable to send or receive Gmail until you clear up space, apply a new promotion, or delete files.
