The home button has been hijacked by Google Assistant
When I long press it no longer puts the phone to sleep but now launches GA.

I turned off GA and now a long press asks if I want to activate GA.

How can I get rid of this nuisance?

Thanks,
WV-Mike

I'm not sure if it can be disabled, I can't find a setting to do it. Usually the Assistant will open only if you hold the home button for a long time (2-3) seconds. If you hold it for no more than a second it should lock the phone.

The same applies if you enabled one-button nav or not.

Wait, wait, I think I found it. :)

Go to settings - apps - gear icon - assist & voice input - tap on Assist app/Google - select 'none'. This will stop opening the Assistant after a long press on the home button (it will do nothing, though). The shorter long press will still lock the phone, as usual.

I have one button nav enabled and never had that issue. Brief tap = home; slightly longer tap = lock/sleep; longer tap = GA.
