My Moto X seems to have a red tint. Is this just coming from the One? Or is it really like that? Any chance a docent unit at ATT would exchange?

it could be the device, i would check a few display models in a couple of places to make sure. Could just be amoled display? (dunno, never had one)

That's what noticed compared to the htc1 it was warmer and less bright (htc one on your left, x on the right)

but next to the SG4 it was brighter and less warm.

Yea I think maybe since I'm coming from the One, it's much warmer. Maybe I'll get used to it. It seems OK. Since I got the phone for 540 somehow, I'd rather avoid having to return since I might have to pay the normal price!

HTC One has the best display of any mobile device on the market. It's not a good or fair comparison for the Moto X.

This is probably true, from a color reproduction standpoint. However, as LED technology improves, the disadvantages of LCD are beginning to steadily outweigh the marginal benefits. For people who are using their phones as multimedia device, the HTC One is pretty close to perfect. When utility is taken into account, it starts to become a more interesting discussion.

This isn't unusual for oled vs LCD, at least from the phone I've had.

    $580 is full price.

$540 is the price for the Next plan. $27 per month for 20 months.

Yea so I guess I bought it full price for $540. Afterwards found out it could have been an error in their system. So I'm good :-)

The pricing error seems to be prevalent. They charged me $540 as well.

OK yes that's kinda nice. And on second thought, the screen isn't as bad as I thought. Maybe the red background I had was forcing me to see it that way. Display not as good as the One though.

The One also has an overly cool (blue) color calibration.

That is to keep the display alive longer, the hotter it runs, the quicker it will burn out. It also helps to save battery life.

It's definitely not more accurate. More pleasing, maybe, but not more accurate. They're both off, just in different directions.

Noticed the difference as well today when I visited a local AT&T store. The display on the X was much dimmer and warmer (not red but yellow) compared to the One (brighter and cooler as others have commented). Regardless of which one is more accurate, to me the display on the One was far more pleasing to my eye. YMMV, of course.

    Uhhh...no.

Since LCD panels are backlit, power consumption is dependent on brightness not color.

So what do you compare it to? Something it can beat? The Samsung Galaxy Nexus?

the htc one really is gorgeous. the X looked better than the S4, though.

if i was on att i would be still ogling the mini just for that very reason. x would still win, but even their mini version screen was beautiful. And today when i passed by att i stopped in to see if they had a black on display, nope, still just the white, and that htc screen was just lovely. it's not even subjective.
