After a full day of light use I managed 50% after 13 hours at work which is great. My bionic would have been ready to die at that point. I resisted the urge to constantly fiddle with the phone but still checked FB a bunch of times and texted back and forth. So, I guess I was worried over nothing. Keeping track of it throughout the day, I dropped 10% the first hour, then 3-4% each hour after that. I can definitely live with that. I no longer will be a slave to my phone charger.

3 hours screen with almost half the battery left isn't a "not bad," it's pretty friggin' awesome in my book!
Hahaha! I guess it is! But comparing to my MAXX HD, it's "not bad", but definitely still awesome.

Last Sunday it was REALLY cold in the south so I decided to do a 3rd factory reset. That reduced battery drain but the power is still draining faster than on 4.2.2. A new MOTO X arrives Friday so I'll see how that does after I log into Google, download my apps, set the phone up and run it for a few days.

Most of my battery usage is from "android OS" and then screen, is this normal? I get to about 20% at 10pm , unplug at 7am . less then 2hrs screen time. Most days no voice calls. Most screen time is spent on hangouts. I got my phone with 4.4 so can't compare to 4.2.2

I'm in the same boat. I bought the Moto X (Verizon) with 4.4 installed but have only had phone for a week. Have to charge every day with minimal use. It's 100% when I take it off the charger and drops 5% or so an hour with no use and a full rack of signal. Is it a bad unit? I've done the battery learning procedure to no avail but haven't tried the factory reset or partition clear.

What's your signal like during the whole day? As good as home? On WiFi any? Have you checked to see if the device is entering deep sleep under battery stats? Some screen shots might help us!

    Maybe this thread can help?

Thanks. My signal is good all day and I'm on WiFi 95% of the time. I did most of the suggestions. I'll report back after a couple of days.

If you've been off-charger and you're down to 74% that means that you have approximately another 24 hours before your battery drops to 0%. That looks pretty good to me!

That's similar to what I get. Losing 26% in 8 hours is pretty good. That will last an entire day.

He's not using it much. I hit 25 hours the other day with 2% battery left and 3 hours screen on time. Looking at the screen shots, something is keeping the phone awake. If your screen is off, your device should be in deep sleep (mostly).

I'd like to find out what it is. With minimal use I'm hoping to not have to charge phone every day.

I don't think that's going to happen. Motorola only rates the battery as good for 24 hours with "mixed usage." Have you had a smartphone before? Pretty much the only phone that's going to let you get away with not charging every day is the Droid Maxx (or its other Maxx predecessors).

It's not that hard to plug a phone into an outlet while you're sleeping every night. I don't know why anybody needs their battery to last more than one day comfortably.

Download "Greenify" from the store. You no longer need root to hibernate apps, it's just a little more time consuming. You either have a rogue app or its location services going nuts. Follow those steps in the other thread and you should be fine. Even with minimal use you probably aren't going to get more than a day and a half unless you're literally talking about 10 minutes of screen on time a day.

Yes I've had a smartphone since 2007 with the 1st iPhone. My iPhone 4 and 5 I had to charge every other day while using as much as I do the X. I also had the X for a week in September and had better life than I do now. I followed Kwkslvr's battery life guide and it seems to be improving. I still think I have something robbing battery though.

Just an FYI, NEVER judge battery on the first day, or even the first week of use.

    Reason is simple:
You havent fully toyed with the phone until the end of the first week. Your use is completely exaggerated because of you tinkering with your new phone and for that, battery life takes a dive. Also, you havent tweaked your settings to fit your use and lifestyle and therefore battery life is going to suffer. Give it a week then see where youre at
