How much data(mobile/wifi) dose your Android OS using?

on my Moto X (kitkat) Android OS:
    mobile 234mb (Dec24-Jan14)
    wi-fi 396mb (Dec24-Jan14)

    Isn't this too much?

I do have BackUp my data On, but so does my friend on same phone with similar settings but his OS data usage is much much less (under 50mb total mobile + wifi...)

What's the different in apps between you guys? It could be backing up more for you because you're running different stuff. Also, when you went through your initial set up, there was a part that asked you if you agreed to share info with Google. If you agreed to it, then my guess is that's what sucking up your data. Mine uses about 50mb/month as well. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how you opt out of that if you agreed to it when you did the initial setup.
