How to set message limit for sms in Hangouts

Now that we can use Hangouts as our dedicated sms app, I am having trouble finding a specific feature: message limits. I like to have only about 50 messages per person max. And I normally have it set to delete older messages as that limit is reached. But I can't find a way to do that in hangouts. Some of my threads have reached the hundreds. I know it will delete messages as "memory is low" but I prefer to set a hard number as a limit. Am I missing something here in the settings?

As far as I know, this isn't an option in Hangouts.

As far as I can tell, not an option, but hangouts is advancing fast so I expect we will see lots of new features coming rather quickly, so we can hope to see more control soon.
