This is such an awesome feature of the Moto X. All you need is the Google Chrome web browser and the compatible extension. I had originally said I would use the Moto X as a wifi only device and my iPhone 5C for texting and calling. Tonight I decided to move my t-mobile sim from my 5c to my Moto X to check out this feature. I think it works pretty great and now I can even send texts to people who don't have iMessage on my MacBook. It even shows you the percentage of battery life remaining on your Moto X. What's everyone else's opinion about Motorola Connect?

Most underrated feature. I wish the Moto G got it too.

If you think just those features are nice, you should try AirDroid.

I have noticed when sending an SMS that messages seem to get sent much more quickly from the phone itself.

I agree this is one of the most underrated features. I've been using it since day 1. The pop-out feature usually requires a restart of the extension but it really is a handy tool.
