Google Keyboard Auto-Correct in Chrome

Is there a way to enable auto-correct and word suggestions when typing a search or URL in Chrome? It works in all other apps.

I'm not certain, but I would guess that auto-correct is not meant to work in the URL bar, since there are often odd letter or character combinations that one might input there, which would not benefit from auto-correct.

Thanks for the reply. Was looking for a change of pace from SwiftKey, which does provide this, but your thought makes sense.
