So ebay is selling brand new xt1060's for $199. Can anyone verify that bought one on ebay that the OS is 4.2?

I'm still on Verizon's Unlimited plan and want to use WiFi tether. I think 4.2 is the last version of Android that supports WiFi Tether. I don't want to buy this phone if I can't do it.

Anyone have an answer?

Thanks!!!!

Root and run the Entitlement app. Enjoy. Stick it to Verizon.

If the XT1060 you are looking at is the Dev Edition, you can unlock its bootloader and root it no matter what ROM is on there. Even 4.4.4.

As long as you can root, you can tether.

That being said, if you are looking at a "Retail" Verizon XT1060, then you can't unlock its bootloader. As long as it has 4.4.2 or lower, you can use Sunshine to unlock the bootloader, then root, etc.. And again after the bootloader is unlocked, you can root no matter what rom is on there. So you could then flash 4.4.4 and root it.

I was considering purchasing a developer edition on ebay. Are all Verizon moto x phones with XT1060 developer editions or is that also for the non developer edition?

edit: After rereading the posts ive figured out that all Verizon moto x is XT1060...
