Since Android 5.1 update to Moto X, why can't I receive a text with photo?

Since Android 5.1 update to Moto X i cannot receive a text with photo.

Text alone, no problem. But a text with photo attached i get an error notification "Message Failed to Download, Click to view" when i click i see nothing.

I had this same problem. After searching for sometime I found a tip that said go to settings>more>cellular networks>access point names(APNs) then select the menu (3 dots, top right) and select Reset Defaults.

This fixed the issue for me.

Sending photos has been hit and miss for me. That seem to do the trick. I'm on AT&T and there use to be both a phone and MMS setting there. What's left after the reset is just a phone setting.
