The OG X will need to update Google Play Services and NOT from the Play Store...let it happen in the background, don't get impatient!

And it'll have to Optimize apps for ART. It'll do that any time you boot your phone while plugged in to charge! (So don't do that).

(and don't ask me how I know!)

Yeah, I'm debating being a pioneer or waiting for others to report. I have 4 hours till I get home and will likely make the decision then. I'll probably end up installing it though, the new Moto X is on my wishlist, the battery on this one is starting to deteriorate anyway.

The second part will take a long time. I was probably down for about an hour and a half. Be patient even after the phone boots up.

Mine is all done updating. I did a cache partition wipe also. After Google Play services updated and I updated all my apps that needed it, everything seems to be running really nice and smooth. It changed my keyboard to the light theme, but that's easy to fix. So far so good. We will see how battery life is over the next few days.

You can also pick your own launch phrase for moto actions now. I like that.

I believe you've always been able to do that, it tells you to say OK Google but it didn't correct your speech input. At least mine didn't. :)

After that is done, it will say you have to update Google services. Just let it sit there for a few minutes, and it will do it on its own. Then, you will have many apps to update from the Play Store, at least I did.

I know you said don't ask, but really, could you elaborate on whatever sort of problems you had updating Play Services from the store?

Got it up and running after an FDR. Very smooth. Installed google now launcher and am (so far) very happy with how it turned out.

Well, I suppose this is a nice present for me and my Moto X, which will soon be retired. I'm glad I'll get to play with Lollipop on my Moto X over the next two weeks before my iPhone 6s Plus arrives.

Welp! Just did the upgrade! Phone rebooted, asked me for my password since my phone's disk is encrypted... It sat there, then comes up with this message:

Decryption unsuccessful
The password you entered is CORRECT, but unfortunately your data is corrupt

Then gives me a button to "Reset Phone"

I've never had this happen before.. Pretty lame..

Updated mine, so far so good.
Everything is running smooth as butter.
Still need to update many apps.
I did have to re-add trusted device for pin-less unlock when in range.

Will update on battery life...

This may actually hold me over from upgrading for another year.

Well, so far so good. Update is applied, and everything is all materially and buttery smooth. The only thing that's left is the Play Services update, and to see how the battery performs once things have fully gelled.

Does anyone know if this is the case if you are already on ART?

So as an update.. Before I hit the reset phone button I powered the phone off, then back on. After entering my decrypt password again is actually booted successfully!

Worth having battery replaced in my opinion. Cost you $60 or $70 estimate for part and labor at a cell phone repair store. Still end up with an arguably better phone than the new Moto G 2015 (compare the specs). The Moto X 2013 is still the classic.

Should I expect my Tasker profiles to continue to work as before?
