Baffling Moto X Headphone Problem

The right audio channel of my Moto X dropped out suddenly while I was listening through Bose QC15 headphones and has not returned. I cleaned the jack with compressed air and wiped down the Bose plug, but there was no change. When I use the Bose headphones with my iPad or iPod the right channel is normal, however.

Even more puzzling is that the right channel on the Moto X is normal when I use earbuds or another set of phones. In other words, the Moto X and the Bose phones each work completely normally with other equipment, but not when used together.

This has me completely baffled. Any ideas?

I found the answer to the problem in an earlier thread titled "My Headphones aren't working with my Moto X" farther down on the first forum page. The Bose phones have a 3-black band plug, and when I attached it to a splitter with a 2-black band plug the sound returned to the right channel and all is normal.
