How do I increase the volume on my Moto X?

Moto X volume too low

Hi, don't know if anyone can help...

I got my moto x last week and I love it, but I have a problem with the volume. I do a lot of driving and listen to podcasts via an fm transmitter. This worked well on my previous phone (iphone 3gs) but with the moto x it is too quiet and "hissy". I have tried just listening through the phone ie not the car speakers and also with a portable speaker, but still find this too quiet.

Any ideas or do I just have to accept this? I don't think I'm going deaf...

I'm assuming your phone is connected to an fm modulator via a 3.5mm cable?

If you listen to something on phone through phone speakers, and volume is set on high..... Then, when you connect a cable to your 3.5mm headphone jack, your volume may not be at the same strength, will need to raise/lower it accordingly.

What I mean is that there are several Volume meters:

Ringtone vol
Media vol
Call vol
Notification vol
Headphone vol
Bluetooth vol

So after attaching cable, have you tried raising volume all the way up?

I don't really remember if this is still happening on 4.4.4, but do you get a warning message on screen when you try to raise volume all the way up when cable/headphones connected?
