Why am I receiving the text I send out in a group text (Moto X)?

Moto X Group Texting

Anyone else have the same problem? When I am included in a group text and reply, the text I send is sent back to me, so now I have 2 identical texts. I know technically it makes sense because I am on the "list" and receive all the other texts, but does it make sense that the phone can't figure out that you don't need a copy of your own text sent back to you?

The group texts I send don't come back to me. I get it that "you're on the list", but I've never had that happen. I use hangouts. The group text with the stock messenger wasn't working for me.

When I reply to group texts I don't get my reply sent back to me.

I am using the stock Message app, and it happens every time. This is a group that someone on an iPhone started, and when they send a text, we all get it. Then when I respond they all get my text, and then so do I. Really weird.
