Moto X Camera damage

I have recently got the Moto X Pure edition. What I was concerned about was whether if I put the phone down with the backside facing the surface would it lead to scratches on the camera? I had the One X+ before this and damaged its camera. Though this camera isn't as protruding out as that of the One X but I wanted to know from the fellow users if they have noticed any issue with any scratches on the camera ?

I use mine without a case and no problems (with the case anyway) I read a review on improvements over 2013 model it said the flash now protrudes the lens to protect it.

Thanks for the reply! I feel that still it does get out a bit. And I really don't want to lose my camera again. Btwn have you been able to get a good tempered glass protector? All I have seen don't cover the edges so of no purpose.

Never looked, I have a 19 month old first edition Nexus 4 without a mark on it, just careful I guess.
