Problematic Bluetooth connectivity of Moto X

Hi,
This is Luke Lonergan and I am facing problems with my Moto X's bluetooth connectivity. The device still continues to play audio in it's speakers instead of the speakers connected to it through bluetooth. Even if its connected, the link breaks very frequently. Can somebody give me a helpful suggestion to solve this?

What music app are you using? Have had similar problems with the Spotify app.
