Has anyone experienced problems with gmail syncing? Emails synch immediately with my nexus 5 and nexus 7, but I need to manually refresh the gmail app on my Moto X to get emails.

Any ideas?

Are all 'sync' toggles ON in your Moto X? (The general Sync button and the individual GMail sync option inside your Google account settings). If you go into your Google Account settings, do you see any sync warnings there for GMail? You could try removing your GMail account and re-adding it, too.

Yes, said options are checked. I also removed and added the account multiple times. It just wont sync normally like all my other devices. It's really maddening.

Can you test adding a different GMail account? If the same happens, the issue is the phone/app... if it doesn't, the issue is with your account.

I would agree with this, except if I had an account problem wouldn't all devices be affected? I guess it's the phone, which is incredibly frustrating.

Not necessarily. It might be an account problem WITH that specific device (Device ID in your security settings or permissions). If another GMail account has no issue with your phone, then you know the issue lies within your account, related to your device's ID. If all accounts fail, then the issue is with your device's app.

Pretty sure I got this one fixed. For any future searchers, I deleted my google and email accounts from the phone, rebooted into recovery, cleared the cache partition, rebooted, re-added my accounts, and the gmail sync has worked normally (within a minute or two) on all my test e-mails.

So the cache partition played a part in this. Interesting (since deleting/re-adding the account didn't seem to help before). Glad you got it fixed though!
