Re: moto X play reviews

Thanks for posting!

Key points from review:

- solid build, not flagship premium quality though (plastic)
- great display, little dim in direct sunlight
- fluid software, virtually stock Android
- great general UI performance (no stutters)
- good game performance (Real Racing 3, GTA San Andreas, Sonic Dash etc.)
- no overheating Snapdragon 615
- decent camera for the price, acceptable low light quality, not too much noise, great HDR, overall not as good as top flagship phones of 2015 though (lacks OIS)
- battery that lasts all day (7-8 hours under heavy usage)

Overall sounds like it lives up to the hype in all aspects except for the camera - which is still good but no match for the top Android flagships :)

EDIT:

Video review from Mobile Syrup!

Really? I am impressed with the battery, don't forget they normally improve after a few weeks and the review said....

During the Moto X Play review process I tested the battery under various conditions, which you can see in the table above. To kill the battery in eight hours requires serious use, but with moderate use, it wasn't uncommon to kill it within 15. On light days with occasional social media, email and always on Wi-Fi, the Moto X Play could manage around 23 hours without the use of battery saving mode.

Re: moto X play reviews

The phone is $399, not $650+ like other "flagships" So the camera gripe is a bit much. For the price, this phone is a flagship for Motorola in my eyes

I'm quite impressed with it, and as soon as I can figure out how to import the Canadian version, I'm going to get it for my gf. She'll love the massive battery and the camera! Especially coming from the og Moto G

Re: moto X play reviews

How's the low light camera performance? Acceptable? I think it'd have a hard job being worse than my Nexus 5 in that regard!

Here's a few quick samples 410.jpg

Re: moto X play reviews

I think the play also lacks the PDAF but not sure if that's been confirmed? How is the auto focussing on the play?
