Just now my Moto X Play received the notification for the nougat update.

    Download size approx. 763.2 MB.

So while the android world is getting ready for Oreo, motorola finally pushes the nougat update for the moto X play. Disappointed about the delay, but glad that the update is finally here. I was a loyal motorola user since Moto G 2013, but probably this will be my last motorola phone.

Anyway, better late than never. Enjoy the update amigos.

    Update complete.

Android security patch level is 1st September 2017.

    Update installs google duo.

There's a bit of lag and some widgets are not displaying properly. I hope a hard reset should solve it.

Give the update a bit of time to settle in and, in the meantime, you could try clearing cache from the storage settings and wiping the cache partition from recovery.

Try a cache partition wipe from recovery. I did it and, in general, everything runs faster and more fluid.

    Try these instructions from Motorola.

By the way, on my X Play the cache wipe took just a couple of seconds.

I did a factory reset as there were some issues with widgets even after a cache wipe. I have observed nougat consumes a bit more ram than marshmallow. But overall it's a good update. Device running smoothly with no lag or other issues.
