If you are thinking about either the new X Style or the Huawei Nexus, you have a pretty good resource available to you: the previous couple of years reviews of the 2013 and 2014 X. I was particularly interested in how the leather backs were wearing and I was able to find out. Kind of nice to see a natural leather back new, and then after 3 months and also black/navy leather with weathering marks after a few months. There are also lots of descriptions about the quality of the Moto X line including software and hardware. Universally stated that Moto builds a solid phone. The camera upgrades that were necessary were done for this year's model. One writer described it as a "Nexus plus", referencing the pure android, plus a couple of nice Moto features.

The Huawei Nexus to be doesn't have the ability to look back on previous models, but they do have a reputation for a solid device.

My personal preference right now is leaning towards the Moto X because of history and Motomaker.

I'm leaning towards the Moto X because I want to customized the look of my phone.

Granted, if the Nexus is cheap enough, I may swing both.

From you guys experience with the older Moto X phones, how do the leather backs do with dirt? I was thinking this might be my first phone I don't use a case on if/when I get the Moto X Pure... Looking at Black Leather, Black Front, Yellow accent. Do these things get very dirty in pockets and stuff? Just figured I'd ask :-)

Man I hope the reviews don't come out and say that its a mess cause I'm like at least 75% on switching from my Note 4 to this phone next month haha.

The black leather on my 2014 X has held up really well. I was worried when I first got it, but have been extremely pleased with it. Definitely going leather again with the 2015.

I have leather on my 2014 Moto X and it has held up perfectly! Now, I haven't been digging in the dirt with it but normal wear and tear it looks great. Definitely gonna go with leather on the new 2015 X

Thanks for the feedback on the leather, guys. I'm debating getting leather this year after getting walnut (which I really liked) last year. How about random water droplets, etc., when you set it on a table? Also, how about pocketability? Does the leather create undue friction that makes it tougher to slide into your pocket (note: I am NOT a skinny jeans guy ;-) )?
