No text notification sound

I even sent myself a text and listened carefully and there is no sound, even though I have it set to the Chime sound. I believe my sound volume is on. What am I missing?

Go into Settings, sound & notifications, and check the volume levels. You can adjust volume up or down.

If that doesn't do it, possibly you have something set up to silence the phone for a certain time.
