Screen blemish when device is hot

Hi there,

Just bought a new Moto X Pure from eBay and on first look, it works and looks perfect....
The issue was first visible when the phone updated to Marshmallow - When the phone heats up, a small yellow blemish shows up on the lower right area of the screen. (See attachments)

When the phone is cool, the screen is just fine.... but even when just updating apps, the blemish starts to show.
I tested the issue by loading the white screen on Amberfog's "Screen Test" app + full brightness + 30 mins to sleep..... the blemish didn't show.
However, after 30 secs of intostudios' "StabilityTest" app the blemish is already visible.

Is this a known issue with this model?
Is the issue with the screen?

Suggest you begin the process of returning it - for replacement or refund.

Wish it was that simple.....
I bought it in the US just before returning from a trip there.
Now I'm back home, with a couple oceans between me and the seller.

So it will be quite expensive to ship it back and forth to replace and also very depressing to return, since a new phone like this costs around 850$ where I live.

So..... any ideas regarding the technical issue?

Support would suggest a Factory Data Reset to confirm the issue... just sayin.

I have the same yellow spot when overheating as the OP -- same exact location. I just got the phone a few days ago and have already initiated a return/refund with Motorola.

I also had a problem with the speakerphone--whenever I used it people told me there was horrendous electronic noise interference that made their ears hurt.

Are there phones that do not overheat or have speakerphone problems? I loved the phone and am thinking about trying it again, but I didn't want to do an exchange because I know that'll probably be a refurbed return with the potential for similar issues.

Motorola must be aware of this issue because they didn't even ask to troubleshoot--just sent me a return label within an hour of me filling out the form.

I would hope that they've caught up on the repairs/refurbs. However, refurbs are notorious for other issues. Try Moto support before trying the seller, they may at least offer "expert" advice.

I love my 2015 XPE! It is a wonderful device! I've had zero problems with mine.
