It took me a ton longer to jump on the Android wagon. My first smartphone was a Palm Pre with WebOS, then a Blackberry, then I was a Windows Phone believer until Microsoft forced me off. I loved that OS, and as a guy already in the Microsoft ecosystem and never a huge App user, it was perfect for me. I went to Android because I had to and with very little enthusiasm.

I got the Pure more or less because of price and the Moto Maker was fun. Got one for me and my son (who was on Android already). My phone finally gave up the ghost on me. Random resets, screen freezes, loose ports and a battery that would not hold a charge or get to 100% finally did it. But, honestly, I owe this device. It was never a "great" phone, but it ran very well and the near stock Android was a nice way for me to learn the OS. It was comfy in the hand and it had underrated audio. I am using a WP8 right now to get me through until a new device (it is rough sledding these days, nothing works) and it reminds me of all the things I miss. But if I had jumped into a heavy UI Android right off I think I might just be back on a dumb phone.

So, thanks Motorola. I appreciate it. It was a good deal and a fine experience. I do hope I enjoy my next Android as opposed to just use it. But looking back it was a dependable device. If it would have held up, I would still be using it and that may be the highest compliment you can pay a piece of electronics.

RIP. If you want to wait a little while longer, Microsoft might try dabbling in the mobile field again, this time using Android: https://www.phonearena.com/news/Micr...phone_id106630

On some level, that would be 50% ironic and 50% hilarious.

I'm holding on for dear life. Only occasional random resets. Charging it 3x/day. It gets to 100%. Stays there for like 10secs. Still mostly reliable.

I came pretty close to pulling the trigger on the LG thinq 6gb ram, 3300ma battery yesterday on Amazon for $600 but didn't. See if I can limp thru till fall when the new models come out.

Cheering for ya, mrpackerguy (assuming a nod to the slightly famous football team in Wisconsin?). There are some good phones out right now, but none of them are great. I am having trouble settling on one to live with for a couple years. If it can get ya to fall, at least the choices will be more numerous and the ones out now not named Samsung or Apple will be cheaper.

My Moto X pure is working just as good as the day I got it..... including battery life, it hasn't lost a thing ;-) I'm a light user though, battery rarely gets below 50%...... I use a Bluetooth earpiece and voice commands so the screen is rarely on, and I top it off every night but unplug it and shut it off at bedtime. It's never given me any issues of any kind, been as reliable as a brick, but after 3 years I have picked up a pixel on a half price sale because I've wanted one for awhile, and I was afraid the possible trade war was going to send phone prices through the roof..... and I had no backup phone :O

I'm still using my mxpe, and plan on switching between the two phones.
I also came off a Windows phone when I switched to the Moto pure...... I agree it was a good way to get to know Android :-) ;-)

My Moto X Pure still kicks ***.
I replaced the battery just last month.
    Running OS v.7
What a great value for $290 back in early 2016 or so.

I am now thinking of upgrading to X4 or Z2 Force.
