Have Sprint Moto X 2013 (XT1056); Want Lollipop ... help?

I've been googling around and reading threads ... want to get Lollipop on my Sprint Moto X.
But quite confused by all the different versions.

Currently I have
- unlocked bootloader
- rooted
- TWRP recovery
- unlocked by Sprint for Int'l use

And this:

I do NOT care about every using Sprint again; I just want to be able to use GSM SIM in Europe.

If someone could please verify what I've gleaned ...

As I understand, I would need to
1. Flash the XT1053 4.4.4 from https://cloud.mail.ru/public/64a43f0fcc1e/Moto_X/Official_XT1053/
I do this from TWRP, yes?

2. Then flash a XT1053 5.0 or 5.1 from ... where?
Can I use this Verizon one? Vzw 5.1 soak ota | Moto X (2014) | XDA Forums
.... if I flash a Verizon 4.4.4?

3. Then I would need to re-unlock for int'l SIM ... as per [GUIDE] SUCCESS!!! SIM-Unlock Sprint XT1056… | Moto X | XDA Forums
But only change the NV-ITEM thing, not the SPC thing?
Or do I do that BEFORE flashing Lollipop?

Again, I do NOT care about every using CDMA/Sprint again.
But I do want GSM SIM with LTE in Europe.
