Why does my phone not connect to Macs?

So I have a Moto X 2nd generation and I want to add this notification tone to my phone. It refuses to connect to Apple computers such as the MacBook Pro and iMac, but on PCs like Dell and Acer it connects just fine. This is a problem that has happened frequently. Is this normal?

Macs don't have a driver for Android phones. You'll need to install AFT.
