I don't like seeing drop tests. Ok, rant over. No hard feelings. I Just think it's wasteful. Perfect phone now is junk.

In this case, testing the claims of the "unbreakable" screen IMO is worth it. Does suck to be that phone though.

We already knew it was unbreakable. Its not a new concept for Moto and I'm quite sure they tested it.

Which means what exactly? Samsung said the S7 Active was waterproof. Tested it and everything. Only it wasn't. Oops.

We know it's promoted as an unbreakable screen, but sometimes it helps to see it in real life. It also shows that the body of the phone IS prone to dings & scuffs, so it may still be worth thinking about a bumper case.

What seemed ridiculous to me was when they released the Turbo2, and someone wanted to see just how indestructible the screen was, and they went straight from a somewhat high drop to pounding it with a hand sledge until the whole thing was obliterated.

With the shattershield being on a phone already (dt2) I kinda figured that it was a moot point to test it. Yes I agree the waterproofing on the s7e was a "whoops"!

Nothing wrong with testing a claim made by a company. Every carrier claims to be the best -- which isn't a new concept since they have done it for a long time. Why would I not test them out for myself to see? Wouldn't make much sense.

Of the course the body would be subject to dents and dings

Sure, but until someone tests it, you don't know if it's going to be unnoticeable, ugly, or cause bits to pop off.

Doesn't make it irrelevant for everyone, and it's still just a phone.

I would rather see a phone donated to someone in need after a review than destroyed just to show us what it looks like after being dropped.

Since I'm considering this phone in a house where kids or pets could make it fall and it's $770 I'd like to know if shatterproof is real or not.

I'm all for drop tests on the Z Force. How much damage can you do before the screen shatters?

Kind of like an insurance company getting a brand new car and crash testing it. It needs to be done.

You just believe every marketing claim you've ever heard?

It's not something that's going to be a deciding factor for most but it's nice to know that new phone you spent hundreds will actually survive a fall or if you should use a case or whatever. And that's what it's for, knowledge.

No I don't but I'm confident that the shatterscreen technology works. I am also friendly with My local Moto rep and we've discussed this phone in detail. He offered me a good deal on a sample but I don't like the plastic shattershield. Scratches too easily and I refuse to put a screen protector on any phone. The Z is too thin and I'm afraid that will break and battery is small. That phone should get some testing not something I know won't break.
I just prefer gorilla glass and I have never broken a Moto after dropping it from a normal height. Droid X....X2....Razr Maxx....Droid Maxx. I think the Z might be too fragile

I don't really care about the drop test but to each his own..its just a waste of a good phone.

If it makes you feel better, if my Z Force sucks I've pledged to destroy it on a YouTube video in a rather epic fashion. That or sell it on ebay.
