Gallery App to read Micro-SD card photos?

I am curious.
I load all my pics onto a sd-card installed in my phone (via my computer).
Is there no NATIVE Gallery app that lets you view photos on micro-SD card.
I don't use Google photos.

Help!

Go to Settings>Apps​, select Gallery, then Permissions. Is there an option for SD card access?

My guess is that some people don't trust Google enough.

I hate Google Photos myself. I don't want an assistant, I don't want cloud backup. I just want to view my photos in folder view. Not separated by date taken, just show me my pics in order taken. That's it. You can't do that in Google Photos. It always separates them by date, and you can't turn that off.
