Some of us Moto Z owners have been granted access to the Google Assistant.

However, do take note that as of this time, Moto Voice doesn't work with the Assistant, as saying your set keyphrase will just trigger the traditional Google voice search.

To trigger the Assistant, you will have to resort to the usual "Okay Google" keyphrase.

As a result, the Assistant can't recognize the keyphrase when the phone is asleep and unplugged unless one enables the feature where the device unlocks if the voice tone matches the keyphrase tone saved in the device.

Hopefully it is updated to support the Assistant.

I can see Motorola phasing out Moto Voice hotword.

And Alexa is coming too.

They would have to make sure that the keyphrase works when the screen is off and unplugged, though.

The Google keyphrase doesn't work but the Moto Voice keyphrase does.
