I use “stupid” in reference to the trick, not the phone, which is awesome.
I have a gold Incipio Style Shell, and for some reason, it seems to be much more magnetically powerful than their gunmetal one, or the Motorola charcoal ash wood shell. So strong, in fact, that I can stick that shell to my filing cabinet here at work, and then attach the phone, and it stays put. If I pull the phone off, the shell stays stuck to the cabinet. I leave it there as a phone holder spot, with a slide show of pics on it, like a “live” picture frame.
