Poor wifi performance?

Is it just me, or is the wifi performance of the Z somewhat lacking? Multiple speed test utilities consistently show a very bursty connection...fast/dead/fast/dead, with an effective average well below where my G4 was (sadly it's gone, or I could post some comparative screenshots). The Z stays connected no problem (I've seen reports of it not), and I see the fast/slow fluctuation on all networks I use.

For the record, I tested both 2.4 and 5ghz with a clear line of sight to the freshly rebooted router no more than 6ft away and no other active wifi traffic. No, it's not congestion at my ISP or the router. I've also included a test from a hardwired PC.

Can you test it on a different wi-fi network, just to see if it's a general wi-fi reception issue for the phone (vs some issue with your router)?

Check wifi settings if you are not using proxies on the phone. It may discrease your speed sometimes.
Maybe it sounds silly but try to test your internet speed by other app.

I have tested using Ookla as well. Yes, I see the problem on all wifi networks that I use. No proxies on the phone. Other wifi devices (a laptop and a Kindle Fire) are fine on the pictured network (at much greater distances), as was my previous LG G4, as are multiple hardwired machines. The issue is the Z.

Any 3rd party apps installed that might try to save battery or data?

It's interesting... Try to clear cache in recovery.
