Turn Off In Pocket Detection? Droid 2 Global

I frequently have problems using my Droid 2 Global where the screen turns off almost randomly. I assume the in pocket detection is at fault - but I can't find any way to adjust this or turn it off. Is there a way? I'm running Gingerbread OTA stock.

The setting is supposed to be in Options -> Display -> Pocket Detection, but I've never seen it in my D2 or any of the other D2's I've checked. I think at some point it caused so much trouble that it was removed via update.
