ringtones

i have a Motorola D2G running GB 2.3.4 and want to add a bunch of ringtones. i want to add them to the sd card and if needed move them where ever.

Enable Mass Storage on the phone, plug it into your computer, create a folder called Ringtones on the card and put your ringtones there.

would i do the same for text notifications ? because it seems i cant i cant use the ones in the ringtone folder.
