Downloaded wmv files will not play

When I download any wmv file, it is hit or miss whether it will play or not. Most get an error message that the file cannot be displayed or played. I heard there is a converter of some sort but is this something you put on the phone or do you have to transfer each and every file to a computer and do some sort of conversion. I did download realplayer and had the same issues so it is not the player.

Is the media player on the droid2 windows media player? Does this have anything to do with flash? Need an update or something? Thanks for your help all.

You should try RockPlayer. It plays everything.

this has me thinking about to try out a few formats and see what plays on my phone

Make sure you keep an eye on the case of the extension.
I had a bunch of .MP4 files on the SD card for my Omnia. When I put them in the D2 they wouldn't play. I changed the extension to .mp4 and they play just fine.

Just something to watch out for.
