How do I copy text in Gingerbread?

I just installed that rooted Gingerbread on my D2. When I long press text, there is now only an option to select the word. I can do that, but how do I copy it once it's selected?

On a website, longpress on a word and it will highlight. Or if you're in a textbox, longpress a word and from the pop-up menu select "select word". From there, drag the two tick marks to highlight everything you want copied. Then press on the highlighted section and a menu will pop up again. This time select copy or cut. Then longpress on the textbox you want to paste your clipboard in and select paste. Done.

So now they've taken an intuitive 2-step process and made it into a secret 3-step process?!

Did MS buy out Google while no one was looking? Or maybe, this is the work of Steve Jobs, champian of the one-button mouse?
