Internal storage using SD card in useless

I have added cards set up as internal storage on my droid Maxx 2 and Moto G4. It is useless on both phones.

I am just venting right now because I just took a screen shot of some important information only to get a notification that it did not save due to lack of space.

I can not retrieve the data now and I have a SD card that is practically empty that the screen print could have been saved to.

Android Marshmallow should have not bothered with this so called feature since nothing seems to ever save to the SD cards adopted as internal storage.

Is this fixed in Nougat? Guess I will never know unless I delete a bunch of apps from my phone to make room for it to download. ARGH

I agree that adopted storage for SD cards (particularly for phones with adequate internal storage) is RIDICULOUS. IMHO this should never have been done.
