- What UPC codes are you bringing into your Verizon store that will work with these phones (Admiral, XPRT, etc.)?
Also, how did some of you get the immediate $100 GC? It says on the website it is a mail-in-offer?08-28-2013 08:07 AMLike 0 - Do you think this one will work?

That's what I want to confirm is true or not. That's the only thing holding me back as I want to purchase a Maxx outright, but won't do it unless I can get the $100 off.08-28-2013 10:25 AMLike 0 -
Taken from the Terms (See Bold):

- The only thing I took into the store is the old phone I was trading in and the new phone I had just bought. I believe they just need the ESN numbers so that they can verify the phone is eligible and hasn't been traded in before. The mail-in offer is if you use a carrier other than Verizon. Verizon worked a deal with motorola to give their customers VZW cards. If you buy your new phone from some other carrier, you have to mail in all the paperwork and they send you a $100 VISA gift card.Bill Newman1 likes this.08-28-2013 11:28 AMLike 1
- Ahh thank you for clearing that up!
This is definitely a YMMV situation. I just went by the Official Retail store by my office on my lunch break.
The Sales Rep told me that it must be a Motorola phone activated on the account, and that it must have the offer on your account when they pull it up.
I will try one close to my house Friday possibly since I have MBA classes today/tomorrow.08-28-2013 12:18 PMLike 0 - Surprisingly, there may be pushback from different employees and it will depend on who you talk to. In one store, the greeter said the offer had to be shown on the account, and isn't for everyone, but those who "qualify" for it, but then the actual rep that "helped me" gave me the standard response that the Droid 3 and X2 were eligible for a $100 trade in credit.
At my main corporate store, I was also told just the Droid 3 and X2 were eligible, but I guess that depends on what the rep says. I traded in an X2 I bought for $60 (offset the upgrade fee) and the $100 was just deducted from my out-of-pocket payment that day.
It does not need to be active on the account, and it's an open offer for everyone, at least for Verizon.08-28-2013 01:07 PMLike 0 - Ahh thank you for clearing that up!

Q: Do I have to stay with the same carrier when I trade up to a new Motorola phone?
A: No, you can choose to stay with your carrier or go with a different carrier.
Ask for a manager and tell them to lookup the information in the first post. The rep tried to tell me the exact same thing. I called customer care and they told me that it is very clear in their internal training materials, they just have to look at the correct program. I traded in a Sprint Motorola Admiral.08-28-2013 02:32 PMLike 0 - In one store, the greeter said the offer had to be shown on the account, and isn't for everyone, but those who "qualify" for it, but then the actual rep that "helped me" gave me the standard response that the Droid 3 and X2 were eligible for a $100 trade in credit.Bill Newman1 and raichur0xx0rz like this.08-28-2013 02:36 PMLike 2

Clearly this is not meant to be abused by people buying cheap phones off eBay or anywhere else for that matter when it wasn't a phone truly being traded up! This is just as bad as people buying insurance and using it after they break their phone. It is a total rip off and theft.08-28-2013 04:50 PMLike 0 - I can see what you are saying, but this stipulation is for clover wireless. We are not using the program through clover wireless we are going through vzw.
I honestly don't feel like I did anything wrong. I didn't lie to anybody at Verizon. I said I owned a phone that was part of the trade up program and I would like to use it. If they had asked I would have told them I bought it off eBay. There were no stipulations that I couldn't. I would have argued with them if they had turned it down because of that.

My stupid store tried to tell me that only the d3 and x2 qualified. That's why I didn't get the gift car Friday when I originally bought the MAXX. I called customer service and they said that the store was wrong. They told me to go back in and tell the manager to look up "Motorola Trade Up" in the "Doorways" app. I asked for a manager and he said yep there it is. You can always go in and talk to the manager before spending any money on a phone on ebay. I can tell you it worked for me. I went and got my $100 gift card tonight. The PROMO code that printed on the card is MOTOJB100NEW.
So when you had the manager go through that process, the Admiral came up as an option, and they gave you the card after you had already purchased?
I want to buy Admiral (way cheaper than D3 or X2)
Buy MAXX online ($50 cheaper at full retail)
Then bring UPC and phone into store for gift card.
Think that plan would work? Guess I need to go into a store again and find out before.08-29-2013 09:19 AMLike 0 - I bought my phone in the same store where I tradded up the admiral. Not sure if buying it online would make a difference or not. The admiral was eligible. They have multiple programs. One is a VZW program and only the d3 and x2 qualify. The other is a motorola program and the admiral qualifies for that program. The sales rep at the store tried to tell me there was only the d3 and x2 program. That's why I had to ask for a manager. If you have questions I would recommend you call the customer support line. The guy I talked 2 was super helpful and answered all my questions about the program. You could even have the CSR on the phone add a note to your account so the store sales rep will have an easier time finding the motorola trade up program.Bill Newman1 likes this.08-29-2013 09:31 AMLike 1
- Update: I bought an Admiral on eBay for $25 two days ago. Got delivered this afternoon and took it to the Verizon store. It took almost 1 /12 hours, but I got my $100. They just credited my account instead of a gift card. Make sure to give them the details from davinci27's post because they had no idea what I was trying to do. They thought I wanted to trade it in under the recycle program.Bill Newman1 likes this.08-29-2013 03:38 PMLike 1
- Did they care what kind of shape it was in as long as it turned on? See quite a few cheapies on ebay that have a scratch or two on the screen.08-29-2013 05:21 PMLike 0
- The store I went to wanted to see it turn on and check the ESN/IMEI number. I bought one that looked pretty good. It had some dust under the screen but seemed to work ok. I didnt get the cracked ones with missing batteries and backs for $7.08-29-2013 05:40 PMLike 0
- So quick question. I actually have a Droid 3 i will trade in on this.
Will you get your 100 gift card right away in store. As in i could use it during my purchase of a MAXX or will i have to wait and use it against my bill or something?08-30-2013 08:48 AMLike 0 - Gift card is credited to your account straight away and can be used immediately, I used mine for case, charger and screen protector combo. I had some initial resistance from then rep in store as I had ordered mine online and he claimed the offer was only valid at the time of order/purchase and there should have been something on the website when I ordered it. He didn't think he would be able to do the offer retrospectively but after a bit of insistence he was able to 'find a way to do it'.08-30-2013 09:53 AMLike 0
- I am going to trade mine in as a buy it. So i should be able to use the card to take 100 off the price?08-30-2013 10:00 AMLike 0
- Yeah, so just tell them you want to trade it in and they should be able to take it off the price of the phone right away. You may get some push back, but they are able to do it.08-30-2013 11:10 AMLike 0
