I had been using face unlock on my new Maxx. Somehow that got disabled over the weekend. Now when I go to Security settings the Face Unlock is greyed out and it says, " Disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage". What did I do??? How do I undo it?

Our corporate mail system enforces minimum security policies that includes slide to unlock and face unlock. The second that was added, I was forced to use either pattern or PIN.

Adding a VPN account will also disable face unlock and slide to unlock.

Bottom line with face unlock is it's not really secure. It's based off of approximations, which is not a particularly strong way to secure a device.

I had that happen when I tried to install FoxFi. Go to Settings > Security & Screen Lock then scroll down to Clear Credentials. It should take care of your problem. It took care of my problem.

Thanks so much! It was FoxFi. I installed it and then uninstalled it over the weekend. I cleared Credentials and it worked!

For me, it was that I had set up VPN. I simply deleted my "VPN network", and all of the unlock options returned. The error message seriously needs to be made more clear.

Also, while searching for the answer to this problem, I noticed SCORES of totally odd, some "Turkish", some "Russian", "Trusted credentials" under "Security"! WTF?!?! Why am I "trusting" so many totally unknown sources? This is alarming--though perhaps "normal" and "harmless". I am tempted to, now that the option has also reappeared, "Clear credentials", but the warning that pops up is "Delete all content?"! I do not want to delete all of my apps and data... just the cruft. Well, I did it, and it looks like all my apps and data are still in tact, alas, so are the "Trusted credentials".

PS: Holy !@#$! It is nefarious! DISABLE TÜRKTRUST immediately! Read up on this: http://ryanzag.blogspot.com/2013/01/...s-are-big.html
