Forced logout from Google

We have a Droid Mini running KitKat.

Whenever the phone is out of cell tower range for an extended period of time the phone logs out of Google. When we try to log in again it will not accept the password. The only resolution we've found is to change the password on the Google account which means logging out and logging back in on multiple devices. It is also means keeping track of a password that changes frequently.

I've researched this and have found many folks with the logout problem, but none with the phone not accepting the password. Any advice?

Welcome to Android Central! That's a strange issue. Have you talked to Verizon about it?

Not yet. We just noticed today that it's connected with being out of cell range for an extended time, so it being Saturday (and me being lazy) I wanted to star here. I'll try there, too.
